Salvatore Mancuso, General Secretary
JD (University of Palermo - Italy), PhD (University of Trieste - Italy)
Born in Palermo and resident in Macao (China) for the last six years, my teaching at the University of Macau focuses on comparative law. I also teach International Business Law and History of Legal Cultures. I am also Honorary Professor of African Law at the Centre for African Laws and Societies of the University of Xiangtan (China). I’ve published mostly on African law, as well as something on general comparative law issues. In addition to being a member of the International Academy of Comparative Law, I’m coordinator of the Macao Comparative Law Committee, and member of the Italian Association of Comparative Law. I also represent in Asia the Association pour l'Unification du Droit en Afrique (UNIDA) of which I am also a member. My current research interests are focused on African law, with some digressions into Islamic law and non-Western legal traditions. I’m also interested in ‘legal hybridity' and 'mixed legal systems' with particular reference to their implications and applications into Africa.
